The Power of Oral History

Oral history, in particular, holds immense value. The immediacy and emotional resonance of a spoken account can powerfully convey the atmosphere and sentiments of a particular era. Capturing these narratives through interviews and personal reflections allows future generations to connect with their heritage on a deeply personal level. The authenticity of these stories resonates far more than any textbook, providing a human connection to the past. Preservation of these stories often relies on community engagement, allowing the narrative to become more diverse and robust. It’s about documenting not just the ‘what’ of history, but also the ‘how it felt’.
